John Andrews of Creative Collective MA

Tell us about what you do for business.

Through my organization and countless collaborators and partnerships we empower the sustainability of the creative industries.

Everyone’s got a story. Tell us about you (What’s your background? How did you get here? Where are you hopefully heading?).

John Andrews is an award-winning photographer, community-based creative executive, and the President and Founder of Creative Collective, LLC. As an entrepreneur, social media wizard, and visual storyteller, John has created, consulted, and assisted innumerable projects geared to benefit the creative economy North of Boston. From hosting pop-up events like the Creative Assembly and the October in Salem Creative Collective Merchant Marketplace, and aligning with organizations like the Peabody Essex Museum and the Essex County Community Foundation, John does “all the things” in the fields of arts, creativity, culture, and community on the North Shore.

For nearly a decade he has spent his waking hours grappling with the imbalance between traditional and creative business, attempting to bridge the gap between the two. He established Creative Collective in 2017 as a way to collaborate and connect with modern, open minded businesses who would join with him to make the world a more artistic, culture, and creative place. Creative Collective, LLC. was born out of a years-long legacy of documenting and community building on the North Shore with Creative Salem.

John Andrews is a lover of the underdog, music that “gives you the feels,” Doctor Who, and all things community. His work has been shared on Huffington Post, MTV, LogoTV, CNN, and SATV (to name a select few).

He is far too humble to be able to tell you any of these things himself. :p

What motivates you (causes; any advocacy/activism/initiatives you’re working on, long-term goals, etc.)?

Countless times throughout my life and professional career I have witnessed the power of the creative industries to solve problems, creative a better quality of life and drive the local economy. Simultaneously I have seen the way that those that live a “creative life” are an undeserved and misunderstood yet critical element of society. My motivation is driven by thousands of humans that are already making the world a better place and the desire to give them a community and platform that can support their growth and sustainability.
